Behind the Scene...."Paw-In"

You never know where you'll find inspiration.
For me, it was over a hand of cards
trying to bluff my way to a win.
Long time friends and poker buddies have the famous print,
hanging by their card table.
I would eye the print between hands
while giving a pat to one of their five dogs.
And then the inspiration struck...
card table..
5 dogs available.
camera.
lighting.
the challenge and fun of a composite.
hmmmm...
time to recreate Coolidge's painting!

Here's a little peek of the behind the scene...

Four of the five adorable dogs are rescues...
(keep that in mind, potential pet owners...
look how talented these pooches are!)
The Lab was rescued by her husband’s Military Police unit
and was the company mascot for 2 years.
And they were all up for the task...
little models, I would say!

You can imagine what a blast this shoot was....

...and I have to admit,
I'm quite pleased with the results...

Poker anyone?...

Thanks, Debbie & Jacob, for your assistance
during this session... and for being
awesome dog handlers!

PPA 2014

Benjamin Franklin's words
hold true
this many years later...

"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."

The wise organizers of
Imaging USA
have this same philosophy.
PPA
put on an amazing event this year
with inspiring teachers
excellent vendors,
and one particularly fun
session involving the audience...

but I'm getting ahead of myself,
more on that in a little bit!

~~~
I flew to off to beautiful Phoenix
to take part in my third Imaging conference,
and right away I reunited with some old friends ...
Fading Sky Studios.
Thanks, Dimi & Scott!
You are wonderful hosts, and it made my time in Pheonix more wonderful spending time with you two!
I have to say,
the conference was an exceptional experience.
I took advantage of a number of seminars,
had the added bonus of being a rep for
StickyAlbums,
met up with mentors,
explored the expo and exhibits,
and enjoyed a question and answer session with
(the fun interaction session I alluded to)
Not only is he one of the best
 country western singers of all time,
but he can now add
Honorary Master of Photography
to his accolades.
Kenny spoke about his passion for photography,
and he kept the audience laughing with his hilarious stories.
Check out his site to see some beautiful images.
thanks again for a great time...
....and I'm looking forward to
Nashville next year!
