Appreciation and More

May is
Military Appreciation Month

This very important month
 honors, remembers, recognizes and appreciates
all military personnel;
those men and women
who have served throughout our history
  and
 all who now serve in uniform
 and
their families
 as well as those Americans
  who have given their lives
in defense of our freedoms we all enjoy today.
The military has been a part of my life
since I was nineteen....
that's almost half of my life!
Over these years,
I have seen the sacrifices made by our
service men and women.
Over. and. over. again.
And, at this moment,
 I'm thinking that the word appreciate
doesn't seem to be quite adequate...
doesn't quite cover all the emotions
that I feel for our military.
So I'm going to add:
admire,
applaud,
 esteem,
 praise,
 respect,
honor,
and
 treasure
MONTH!
There is one service man in particular,
a certain
CPT. Charles Lamar Mallard,
who I especially
appreciate,
and  I want to
 heap upon him all of the other
accolades above!
But there is a word left off that list...
one that is especially reserved
for this very special man.
Charlie,
I
appreciate
and
LOVE
you...

during this month

and

always!

Neighbors...Collaborators...Friends

Good-byes are never easy,
but
 when such good memories have been created,
when common interests have been shared,
when we have watched the growth of each other's children
and
have spent family time together,

a bond
has been formed that will
last a lifetime.

And that makes the
good-bye somewhat easier.

That being said...

Jason and Charlie,

you and your little ones
will be missed!
Our block won't be the same!
Color commentary
at the next olympics will be absent!
(unless you get the job at the winter games, fingers-crossed!!)
Photo session collaboration
and equipment swapping will come to an end!

And because of this,
 there will be
 a measure of sadness
as we see you off to your home country!

We send with you
 our best wishes and prayers
as you start your next journey,

and we will look forward to when
our paths
 cross again!

Your Next Family Member?

Who could walk away from this face!?!

Apparently, someone couldn't!

This sweet little rescue pup was recently adopted from

This is just a short
visual reminder
that there are thousands of
rescue animals
out there just waiting for
their forever home.

And,
just maybe,
that's your home!

So, if you're looking to add
a new family member,
check out your local rescue sites.

There is a
bundle of love
just waiting for you there!

Chaos? Anything But...

Friends
getting together with
Common Goals
attending
Hands-on Seminars
and listening to
Great Speakers...
...that was a part of my April!
was a great experience,
and I loved every minute.

Photo-bombed by
Craig Stidham, an amazing photographer who taught at the conference

I believe continuing education
for photography is a necessity.

And Fotochaos 2 was one of the best venues
in fulfilling that need.
It was chock-full
of inspiring
teachers/mentors...
one of my favorites being

~~~
And
as I said earlier,
there were many hands-on opportunities,
one of them capturing the image of
the lovely artist, Nicole Jolly,
during Jeff Woods Crappy Lighting class.
She was amazing!
 ~~~

Well,
Fotochaos organizers,
I commend you on a
 job well done!

I came away inspired,
ready to utilize more tools of my trade,
my knowledge expanded, and new friends with a common passion!

Thank you very much,
and I look forward to
more seminars down the road
hosted by you!
